Alila Brossard Antonielli is a Brazilian-Italian anthropologist and historian of health and science. She holds a PhD on Health and Social Sciences from the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales in Paris, affiliated to the Cermes3 research laboratory, and two master’s degrees in Latin American Studies from the Institut des Hautes Études d’Amérique Latine, and in Population and Development Studies from the Université Paris Descartes. Her research interests include pharmaceutical production and uses in the Global South, health systems and reproductive health from a science and technology studies perspective.

Within the Beyond Thalidomide project, she will conduct research on drug-related disabilities in Brazil and retrace the trajectories of people affected by those disabilities through oral history interviews. She previously worked on Mozambique and Angola health systems at independence for the research project Socialist Medicine: an Alternative Global Health History, focusing on primary health care, pharmaceutical policies and medical internationalism. She has extensive experience in coordinating and conducting empirical fieldwork and archival research in Africa (Angola, Mozambique), Europe (France, Switzerland, United Kingdom,), and Latin America (Brazil, Peru, Uruguay) for academic research and for the NGO Médecins du Monde as associate researcher with the LASDEL Bénin.
